Exact Pareto-Optimal Coordination of Two Translating Polygonal Robots on a Cyclic Roadmap

چکیده
We consider planning optimal collision-free motions of two polygonal robots under translation. Each robot has a reference point that must lie on a given graph, called a roadmap, which is embedded in the plane. The initial and the goal are given for each robot. Rather than impose an a priori cost scalarization for choosing the best combined motion, we consider finding motions whose cost vectors are Pareto-optimal. Pareto-optimal coordination strategies are the ones for which there exists no strategy that would be better for both robots. Our problem translates into shortest path problems in the coordination space which is the Cartesian product of the roadmap, as a cell complex, with itself. Our algorithm computes an upper bound on the cost of each motion in any Pareto-optimal coordination. Therefore, only a finite number of homotopy classes of paths in the coordination space need to be considered. Our algorithm computes all Pareto-optimal coordinations in time O(2mn log(mn)), in which m is the number of edges in the roadmap, n is the number of coordination space obstacle vertices, and α = 1 + d(5` + r)/be where ` is total length of the roadmap and r is total length of coordination space obstacle boundary and b is the length of the shortest edge in the roadmap.

Pareto Optimal Coordination on Roadmaps
Given a collection of robots sharing a common environment, assume that each possesses an individual roadmap for its C-space and a cost function for attaining a goal. Vector-valued (or Pareto) optima for collision-free coordination are by no means unique: in fact, continua of optimal coordinations are possible. However, for cylindrical obstacles (those defined by pairwise interactions), we prove...
متن کاملComputing Pareto Optimal Coordinations on Roadmaps
We consider coordination of multiple robots in a common environment, each robot having its own (distinct) roadmap. Our primary contribution is a classification of and exact algorithm for computing vector-valued — or Pareto — optima for collision-free coordination. We indicate the utility of new geometric techniques from CAT(0) geometry and give an argument that curvature bounds are the key dist...
متن کاملNonpositive Curvature and Pareto Optimal Coordination of Robots
Given a collection of robots sharing a common environment, assume that each possesses a graph (a 1-d complex also known as a roadmap) approximating its configuration space and, furthermore, that each robot wishes to travel to a goal while optimizing elapsed time. We consider vector-valued (or Pareto) optima for collision-free coordination on the product of these roadmaps with collision-type obs...

We extend our study of Motion Planning via Manifold Samples (MMS), a general algorithmic framework that combines geometric methods for the exact and complete analysis of low-dimensional configuration spaces with sampling-based approaches that are appropriate for higher dimensions. The framework explores the configuration space by taking samples that are low-dimensional manifolds of the configur...
متن کاملPath Selection and Coordination for Multiple Robots via Nash Equilibria
We present a method for analyzing and selecting time-optimal coordination strategies for n robots whose con-gurations are constrained to lie on a C-space roadmap (which could for instance represent a Voronoi diagram). We consider independent objective functionals, associated with each robot, together in a game-theoretic context in which maximal Nash equilibria represent the favorable strategies...
